Meridian Line's primary raison d'ê·tre - other than to entertain its audiences - is to 'twist' familiar pop, folk, and rock songs from the last half century into memorable and one-of-a-kind interpretations. The trio's "boomer-folk" style is like no other and sets include standard folk, country, and bluegrass tunes together with deformed-yet-delicious songs from musical artists as diverse as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and Britney Spears. (Yes, Britney Spears!)
Formed in 2011 and based in the Edmonton area, the trio has elbowed its way onto stages at B-grade music festivals, out-of-the-way coffee shops, and the occasional benefit gig. Comprised of Rick Diesbourg (guitar), Rik Cormier (bass), and Ian Bowden (mandola, banjitar, and octave mandolin) the band's unique instrumentation and harmony vocals from all three members leaves a lasting impression on all of its audience members, some of which inevitably require post-performance therapy.
