Tim Chesterton & Ian Bowden
Tim Chesterton is a regular performer at The Carrot, typically joined by one of his Edmonton songwriting compatriots. His music is mainly derived from his UK birth land. He song writes from experience and history and handily reinterprets traditional Celtic-flavoured songs, keeping them fresh and interesting.
Unlike Tim, Ian is not a prolific songwriter, but his repertoire is very broad and deep and comes primarily from two sources. The first is the gems he's collected over the years from other gifted songwriters, many of them not from the mainstream music world. The second is the music of his youth; pop and rock songs from the golden era of modern music (1967 to 1980) that he renovates into acoustic folk and roots songs, some of which might only vaguely resemble the originals.
Both love to perform songs from folk artists such as Bruce Cockburn and John Denver, hence the pairing of these two solo artists into a memorable evening of delving into the very diverse realm of "folk music."
