May features Kate Blechinger!
Kate Blechinger is an inventive and charismatic Edmonton based vocalist, composer, and arranger. Kate is a recent graduate of MacEwan University's BMus in Popular, Contemporary, and Jazz Music program, where she majored in Vocal Performance, and studied privately with Rhonda Withnell and Chandelle Rimmer. Kate has also had the pleasure of studying with Dee Daniels.
In her own compositions, Kate explores a fusion of her two musical loves- folk and jazz music - by mixing the lyrical sincerity of folk traditions with elements of jazz harmony, instrumentation, and improvisation. Currently, she can be found performing around Edmonton with her own quartet, singing and playing bass with Emily Nancy Guthrie & The Wildflowers, singing with Edmonton's vocal harmony swing group, The Jivin' Belles, and working on her own music in preparation for her debut EP in 2017. Kate also teaches private piano and voice lessons as well as Kindermusik at Kidsnotes Music in Edmonton!
Kate will be joined by guitarist Derek Plunkie.
