We will be looking at the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, an influential American artist of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent, followed by writing and a discussion. Together we will focus on the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, read supplementary materials to contextualize his work, and have a group discussion that will follow after writing. It will be a bridge to the Trip Fantastic, the world of creativity.

Alison Clarke is the award-winning author of The Sisterhood, a young adult fantasy novel about Oppie, a sorceress’ daughter, and her best friend, Aurie, who is a dragon, and the journey they go on to save the universe. Clarke is a writer and artist who also enjoys both painting and drawing. She also experiences life as a spoken word artist and is an instructor in the area of creative writing and visual arts.

This workshop is only possible thanks to the generous support of The City of Edmonton. We are lucky to have such a prolific and well-known author available to us at The Carrot and we are so excited to host this workshop.
