Stephen Fearing - Songwriter Masterclass

Stephen Fearing - Songwriter Masterclass

Date: February 22 | 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Location: The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse (9351 - 118 Ave)

This two-hour songwriter masterclass offers an in-depth look at songwriting with Stephen Fearing, revered for his vivid lyricism, masterful guitar work, and a voice often described as melodic and cobalt. A two-time JUNO Award winner and co-founder of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Fearing brings decades of experience crafting songs that capture the human condition with honesty and edge.

Drawing on his acclaimed body of work, including his 2025 release The Empathist, he will explore song structure, melody and lyric, tension and release, and the anatomy of a compelling song, along with practical ways to move through writer’s block and the internal critic. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and questions for a grounded, practical session rooted in real-world songwriting craft.
