The Carrot Friday Nite Live presents Erin Dawn and the Daybreakers - August 28

🎶 Live music starts at 7:00 pm | $10 Cover | Youth (12 & under) $5 | All Ages 🎶

Erin Dawn and the Daybreakers grace the stage to share their unique music with our local community here in Edmonton. Blending the roots of bluegrass with a modern, heartfelt edge, this contemporary bluegrass ensemble brings a distinctive voice to the genre through the original songs of Edmonton songwriter Erin Dawn. Erin is joined by Mark McHale on mandolin, Nieva Srayko on Banjo, and Victor Mala on guitar. With rich harmonies, expressive instrumentation, and arrangements that balance tradition with innovation, the band creates a sound that feels both grounded and refreshingly new. Their music moves between intimate, reflective moments and driving, high-energy grooves, always anchored by lyrics that resonate long after the last note fades. On stage, the group delivers performances that are as genuine as they are engaging, inviting audiences into Erin’s world—one shaped by vulnerability, resilience, and a quiet sense of defiance. Whether playing a small listening room or a festival stage, they offer something rare: bluegrass music that honors its roots while making space for stories that don’t always get told.

HighersElves are a mystical forest folk duo inspired by the beauty of the natural world. Their music is often described as soothing, enchanting & uplifting to the soul. Rhapsody’s sweet, ethereal voice and lyrics paired with Brian’s heart-inspired guitar aim to reach hearts and remind people of their wholeness, and of the natural beauty of life. HighersElves are very passionate about being a voice for Mother Earth, and bringing light and encouragement to those who need it. They are often compared to the sound and energy of Of Monsters & Men, The Paper Kites, Enya, and Aurora - with the raw energy and passion of bands like Evanescence and the Cranberries. Turning to music in his darkest times, he found solace in his ability to share his heart with others through his lyrics. Drawing on his experience of coming out as queer, living with mental illness, and battling addiction, his songs carry a tone of desperation and sorrow. With soulful melodies and heart-wrenching lyrics, his music conveys a message that is both powerful and vulnerable. Entirely unique, yet familiar."

This self-taught uke player uses songwriting as both anchor and compass, navigating life’s twists and turns with warmth, honesty, and a touch of the offbeat. Canada raised her, Germany shaped her, and somewhere in between Marie Fontaine found her ukulele-driven indie folk sound, rooted in storytelling and connection. Raised in a creative family, she grew up on French chanson and artists like Kate Bush and Rickie Lee Jones. Since 2015, she’s become a familiar face in Edmonton’s scene, with highlights including a Nashville retreat with Andrea Stolpe, performing with WriteOn! at the Calgary folk club, The Rocky Mountain Listeing Room, the WriteOn showcase at the Ironwood Stage & Grill, The Key of Me at SkirtsAfire Festival 2026, and her 2026 release “Big Valley Jail.”
